ISF, the International School Sport Federation, has organized the Gymnasiade since 1974 and in 2016 added chess to the list of sports included.
Morocco organizes the 17th Gymnasiade, the first to take place on the African continent.
The chess discipline includes two tournaments, one for boys and one for girls. In each case players must have been born in the years 2000-2001-2002.
So far entries for the chess events include Armenia, China, France, Iran, Morocco, Russia and Ukraine. Chess entries will be accepted until the end of March.
National delegations consist of a maximum of 6 players (maximum 3 boys and/or 3 girls) and 1 coach. Typical cost is €400 per player (2-4 bedded room & coach double room).
National chess federations will need to liaise with the ISF organization in their country (http://isfsports.org/countries) as it is only that organization which may make the entry. If there is no School Sport Federation in your country, then contact ISF directly.
