FIDE Trainers’ Seminar
Tarrytown, 9-11.06.2014
Another FIDE Trainers’ seminar was held near the Big Apple, in the United States of America, contributing on the international certification of American trainers. The seminar was held in Tarrytown, in DoubleTree Hilton hotel (http://doubletree3.hilton.com/en/hotels/new-york/doubletree-by-hilton-hotel-tarrytown-TERHIDT/index.html).
Tarrytown is a village in the town of Greenburgh in Westchester County, New York, United States. It is located on the eastern bank of the Hudson River, about 25 miles (40 km) north of midtown Manhattan in New York City, and is served by a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Tarrytown is the village of Sleepy Hollow (formerly ‘North Tarrytown’), to the south the village of Irvington and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh. The Tappan Zee Bridge crosses the Hudson at Tarrytown, carrying the New York State Thruway (Interstates 87 and 287) to South Nyack, Rockland County and points in Upstate New York.
The seminar was co-organised by the FIDE, the Confederation of Chess for America (CCA), the FIDE Trainers’ Commission (TRG), the FIDE Women Commission (WOM), the FIDE Social Action Commission (SAC) and the United States Chess Federation (USCF), June 9th to 11th, 2014. Fourteen trainers from United States of America (12), Georgia (1) and Iraq (1) participated. The Lecturers were GM/FST/IA/IO Efstratios Grivas (Greece), who is also the Secretary of the FIDE Trainers’ Commission and FT Beatriz Marinello (USA-Assistant and Chairperson of SAC). Here is the relative ‘proof’:
And of course, here are the Results of the participants (PDF).

Well, everything run smoothly and more or less everyone was happy to learn something more in training and obtaining certification on his/her level. Proper chess-training is a bit more difficult than it sounds and trainers have to improve constantly their level…
Ending this report, I would like to say that I enjoyed New York City. The Big Apple has a strange, magical flavour, which cannot really be described by ordinary methods…
